I'm currently in Marrakech, Morocco. The people are still celebrating in the streets from yesterday's World Cup victory against Belgium.
I will cover something I often take for granted because it's intuitive to me. Pack as light as possible!
Why packing light is
important:
Overpacking slows everything down.
I fit all of my items in my carry-on luggage, so I'm off to explore the city
once the plane lands. I waive 'adios' to all the people stuck at the airport waiting for their luggage in baggage claim.
Overpacking also limits the transportation options that you can take (i.e., cars, buses, trains, etc.) Even if these transportation options aren't available, I can always walk to where I need to go. Good luck hauling all that luggage on cobblestones
or up a flight of stairs.
Overpacking is more expensive.
Depending on the airline taken, checking luggage can add hundreds of dollars to your trip. For example, checking luggage to Morocco would have added $200 extra to the flight costs. Do you know much couscous I can eat for that money?!
Honestly, I check luggage at times but only
if I'm traveling for an extended period.
If you're traveling for less than two weeks, be on Team Carry-On bruh.
The next issue is going to talk about how to pack more efficiently.
Are you an over-packer?
Cocktail of the Week
An oldie but goodie. Try the Irish Coffee
1 1/2 ounces Irish whiskey
3 ounces
coffee
2 tbsp brown sugar syrup (2:1)
Whipped cream
Preparation: Heat the glass you are serving the drink in with warm water. Once the
glass has warmed, remove the water and add the whiskey and brown sugar simple syrup. Stir in the coffee. Top with whipped cream and serve.
