The Must-See Guide to San Antonio A PSA to friends and fellow travelers: If you want me to go on a trip to France with you, I need more than one month's notice. 1. I hope you've already bought your ticket and 2. I tend to travel a lot - my name is The Busy Traveler after all. So, if you're serious, please give me at
least four months' notice if you’re trying to plan a trip.
I just got back from San Antonio so you know I have to tell you guys what to check out. When in San Antonio, be sure to try the following: Activities to Explore: - Try TexMex: If you love TexMex, you'll be properly fed in San Antonio. I ate nothing but TexMex during my stay and enjoyed every minute of it. Be sure to try the restaurant La Fogata. Try the Puffy tacos, Chilaquiles, and more... Check out my IG video of some San Antonio breakfast
food!
- Attend a rodeo: The rodeos in San Antonio are
on another level! These events often sell out full sports stadiums and the prices are comparable to those of major concerts. Be sure to buy your tickets far in advance so you’re guaranteed a spot.
- Visit the Riverwalk: The Riverwalk is a neighborhood in San Antonio that features outdoor cafes, restaurants, and bars nestled along a riverbank. You can enjoy scenic views, take a stroll, or ride a riverboat while soaking in the atmosphere with a drink in your hand. 😎While the restaurants here tend to be a little
touristy, I still had a good time.
Please note that if you jump, fall, or slip into the water, you’ll be fined...
So, don’t get so drunk that you accidentally fall in. It’ll cost you! - Go on a ghost tour👻: Because of the many battles fought in San Antonio, more ghosts probably linger around there than in other cities. If you stay in a downtown hotel, it's likely haunted. I don't usually believe in this “woo woo” stuff, but I still had trouble sleeping when I got back from San Antonio…maybe that
means the tour was too good. Take a look at the
Sisters Grimm Ghost Tour
- Visit El Mercado: This area is like a little slice of Mexico with one of the largest Mexican markets in the U.S. There, you can try great Mexican food at several authentic restaurants. This place is a must-see if you want a true cultural experience. While you're there, visit Mi
Tierra restaurant for their quality food and desserts. Beyond eating, you can buy some trinkets and souvenirs from the markets’ vendors.
- Visit the Natural Bridge Caverns: This is one of the largest caverns in Texas, so you have to see it! The beauty is unfathomable. The caverns were discovered by some college students who saw a hole in the ground and jumped right in! While I would never jump in a random hole, college students don’t have a true sense of their own mortality yet…🤣 The tavern is only a 30-minute Uber ride
away outside of San Antonio. You can choose from among many types of tours, from scenic to adventurous, so make sure to ask before signing up! Link
- Visit the Alamo: This location was the rallying battle cry for Texan independence. It's a sacred sanctuary that you’ve got to see when in San Antonio. I already knew about the Alamo, of course, but being there put
everything into perspective. You can see people who faced death and bravely fought to the end. The Alamo has been featured in many movies and TV shows including the famous 1960 film, "The Alamo," which starred John Wayne.
Would you be brave enough to go on a ghost tour in San Antonio? 😬
Try this Cuban cocktail, the Hotel Nacional. - 1 1/2 ounces white or aged rum
- 1/4 ounce apricot liqueur
- 1 ounce pineapple juice
- 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
Garnish: lime wheel Preparation: Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. Strain and serve.
A watered-down cocktail for $27!? The skyrocketing price for a drink at a bar has reached a level of insanity!
