I’m currently in Cologne, Germany and the Xmas markets are on a different level. 🎅🏼
I’m like Samuel L. Jackson, but for farts.
I'm tired of people farting on
the plane!!!
I'm so fed up with this that I'm going to expose people and put them on Instagram Live. Watch me!
But
seriously, I understand where they’re coming from. I used to have a problem with gas on planes, but after doing a lot of research, I've found a solution:
Have you ever experienced gas on a plane? It's awful!…Especially if you're stuck in the middle seat. You get up, go to the bathroom to relieve yourself, and then the gurgling feeling returns as soon as you sit down. 😬
I don't know about you guys, but I have loud farts, so it's risky to try to sneak one out because the whole plane will know, and passengers might start panicking. It's not a pretty sight…or smell.
Being at higher altitudes affects your stomach differently than being on the ground. Here are my tips for a more
pleasant flight experience because there's nothing worse than being trapped on a plane with gas.
- Avoid heavy meals - If you eat a lot of food and overindulge, like one usually does on vacation, there's a higher chance of experiencing gas.
- Stay away from artificial sweeteners - These can upset your stomach more than a vegan at a meat market. Examples include sorbitol,
mannitol, and xylitol, which are often found in sugar-free gum, candies, and some diet products. I drink my coffee black, but there are artificial sweeteners in my whey protein and protein bars.
- Skip dairy products - There's a reason why they say, "Who cut the cheese?" So avoid cheese, milk, ice cream, or anything with lactose.
- Avoid carbonated drinks - This has been
difficult for me because I love seltzer water, but the bubbles can upset your stomach at higher altitudes.
- Steer clear of starchy foods - Foods like wheat and potatoes are known to produce gas, so it's best to avoid them.
- Be cautious with high-fiber foods - While I'm a fan of chicken breast and broccoli, it's not the best choice for flights because broccoli has
failed me. Don't forget about fruits, though! An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but it can cause a disaster on a flight.
- Say no to fatty or fried foods - These types of foods take longer to digest, which means there's more opportunity for gas to be created. So, avoid them as much as possible.
The solutions:
- Ginger - Consume plenty of ginger. There are ginger candies, but I don't eat them because I don't want to disrupt my macros. Instead, I opt for ginger tea.
- Take gas pills - These are a lifesaver. I always take them pre-flight.
- Keep meals light - Avoid having a Thanksgiving dinner before flying. If you consume less food, there will be less fuel that can be converted into gas.
- Consider seeing a doctor - If gas is a persistent problem, it may be worth getting checked out. Don't just do it for yourself, but for your loved ones and society.
When I'm
about to board a flight, I usually eat nuts and drink water. My plane rides are much more enjoyable, and I use the focused time to get work done.
