I've launched a new video series on Instagram where I share my travel tips. Naturally, those on my email list will receive this information first and in more detail.
Social media followers will get the "cotton candy", but my email subscribers will get the "steak and potatoes".
I really appreciate you guys! ✊

While I was in Rome near the Colosseum, I saw a couple taking pictures.
In reality, it was simply the boyfriend taking photos of his girlfriend.
Then the boyfriend picked her up and began carrying her. Meanwhile, she took his phone and began filming herself as he walked.
That's a bit too much, even for me.
However, all of the theatrics were in vain due to poor lighting…
Taking pictures is an essential part of traveling. In a previous post, I discussed how to look good in photos. Now, let's focus on finding the right lighting conditions to take great pictures.
Light can significantly influence the quality of travel photos.
No, really…lighting can make or break your pictures.
Sometimes, I've changed plans at the last minute depending on whether the light is good or bad that day.
Ideally, take photos in the morning or
evening. Mornings are the best because there are fewer crowds, so even touristy spots are empty. With both situations, you have the golden hour, and this is perfect because the sun is less harsh.
Conversely, DO NOT TAKE PICTURES DURING NOON
Taking pictures at noon is not ideal as it can result in harsh shadows. Here's an example of a
picture I took in Sedona where no amount of composition could salvage the photo due to poor lighting.
When you have no other choice…
If you're in a situation with bad lighting,
try to move indoors. If you have to take the picture outside, find a spot in the shadow where the lighting is softer.
My Stance on Cloudy Days
I love them!
I love taking pictures on cloudy days because the light is soft and evenly diffused. As long as you don't
include the overcast sky in your photos, you'll be pleased with the results. The soft light on cloudy days can enhance the overall look of your images.
Give these tips a try and let me know your thoughts.
What tricks do you use when taking pictures outdoors?
Cocktail of the Week
The Swedish Punsch is a traditional Swedish cocktail that traces its roots back to the colonial era. It was originally developed in the 18th century when Sweden had overseas territories, such as the island of Saint Barthélemy in the Caribbean. It is a delightful blend of spirits, spices, and citrus flavors, creating a unique and beloved
Swedish libation.
Recipe: - 2 oz Swedish Punsch
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- Soda water
- Lime wheel for garnish
- Ice cubes
Preparation: - Fill a highball glass (optional) with ice cubes.
- Pour Swedish Punsch and fresh lime juice over the ice.
- Stir gently to mix the flavors.
- Top it
off with soda water.
- Garnish with a lime wheel.
