Congratulations to the Chiefs on their Super Bowl win last night. Living in Philly, I'm always pleased to see Andy Reid succeed. It was an excellent game, but I wasn't too keen on the overtime as I wanted to write this newsletter!
Taking pictures is a significant
aspect of traveling, and naturally, you'd want to look good in those pictures. While I often receive comments about being photogenic, the truth is I have learned some tricks for taking good pictures. In this article, I'll share some of these tricks with you.
First, I'm going to share the most important tip. Please don't overlook this and dismiss it as something you already know. If your pictures aren't fire, then you're probably
not doing it correctly.
When taking a picture, you should feel the emotion you want to convey.
When most people take pictures, they physically move their faces into a smile, but they feel nothing. This often results in photos that appear fake and awkward.
DUH!!!
Before conveying any emotion, you must first create that feeling within yourself. It will then resonate and connect with others.
Think about a pleasant memory that brings you happiness and let it shine through.
Truly, it's that
simple.
This is why candid photos are so appealing. They capture a person in a genuine moment, and viewers can feel that connection.
Even a technically flawed picture can connect with the audience if it exudes the right energy.
Don't believe me? Watch me turn this feeling off and
on.
There is nothing special about this photo. I'm in my home office, dressed in gym clothes. I've just changed my energy.
Play with angles
- Many people tend to stand straight and look directly at the camera when taking a photo. However, remember it's not a mug shot. Standing at an angle to the camera can make your pose more dynamic and even make you appear slimmer.
Keep Moving - Sometimes, people become too rigid when they're stuck in one position for too long. Try moving around and
let the person behind the camera take multiple shots. This approach will yield a more natural picture. After all, you only need one good photo.
Smize - Try to make your eyes smile. Slight lift your lower eyelids while keeping your upper eyelids steady. This technique was made popular by Tyra Banks' show, "America's Next Top Model." It does work, but be careful not to overdo it or you'll risk looking like a
psycho killer.
