For Busy People: Elevate Your Travel Experiences in Little Time
I hope everyone is having a great Labor Day.
Ā
I just got back from Hawaii. I had a blast, but I'm pretty tired after more than 10 hours of flights.
Ā
I don't know about you,
but when I'm tired, I usually end up doing things I shouldn't.
Ā
Which leads me to my next pointā¦
I feel like upsetting people today.
Ā
American football is boring.
Ā
There, I said it.
Ā
I don't get the big dealāit's just someone running down the field with a ball. Plus, these games are 3 hours longāI don't have time for that.
Ā
I already know what some of you are going to say: āAndrew, there's more to the game than
that.ā You'd explain the intricacies of the game, the rules, the players' stories, and the team rivalries. All of that makes football entertaining to watch.
Ā
So, when Nick Foles, a backup quarterback, faces off against the greatest quarterback of all time during the Super Bowl and wins the Eagles' first Super Bowl in 2018, it's an epic moment.
Ā
Ā
Ā
I'm jokingāI love football and I've noticed that sports, in general, are a great way to bring people together.
Ā
Whatās my point?
Ā
A common complaint I often hear from people when they travel is a lack of interest in certain sites or locations. Whether it's a museum or a cultural site, many travelers miss out on the significance because they don't grasp the context.
Ā
For example, in Hawaii, I went to a place that literally featured an empty room. It's hard to get more boring than an empty room. However, when you learn that a Hawaiian queen was held captive there by American businessmen for seven months and crafted a quilt during her confinement, that once mundane room becomes a compelling story.
Ā
Now, to address the concern of not having time for research while traveling
Ā
I'm guessing you check social media at least once a day.
Ā
Don't lie to me!
Ā
So, why not
spend just 5 minutes watching YouTube videos or engaging with other social media content about the history, food, or culture of a place? This simple tip can make your travels more engaging, especially now when documentaries are so popular.
Ā
Give it a try and let me know what you think.Ā
Keep traveling,
Andrew
Is football boring or interesting to you?Ā
Cocktail of the Week
The Blue Moon cocktail is said to have originated in the United States during the Prohibition era, where creative mixologists experimented with various ingredients to concoct new drinks. Its vibrant blue hue and refreshing taste quickly gained popularity as a whimsical cocktail choice for those looking to indulge in a unique libation.
Ā
Ingredients:
2 oz gin
1/2 oz blue curaƧao
