For Those Traveling to Multiple Countries in One Trip
I’m planning a couple of collaborations with other content creators in the near future that I’m excited about.
Honestly, it’s great working with different creators because everyone has a unique way of doing things, so I always learn something new.
Most importantly, it’s just fun!
Other content creators just get “it.” We have similar tendencies, so I don’t have to hold back my impulses like I do around other people.
For example,
if I want to take pictures in the middle of a busy intersection, they will be right there with me unfazed, and vice versa.
Ahhhh, good times!
I can’t wait!
Let’s get to this week’s topic…
Managing happiness while traveling is a fickle thing.
It's nearly impossible to force yourself to be happy, and the harder you force it, the more elusive it becomes...
When you travel, it's just as important to manage mental states as it is to
plan for the practical details.
This leads me to cover the concept of loss and how it can ruin your trip.
For example, if I give you 5 dollars, you will feel happy.
However, if I give
you 10 dollars and then take away 5, you’re going to feel bothered.
Was there any difference? No, you still
gained 5 dollars.
Research shows that when faced with two equal choices, people often try to avoid losing something rather than focusing on gaining something.*
So, how can we use our innate tendencies to maximize our travel experiences? 🤔
If you are traveling to multiple countries, visit the expensive ones first.
Yes, things will initially be more expensive, but prices will get cheaper with each country you visit, giving you a psychological boost that ends the trip on a high note.
Doing the opposite has a reverse effect.
Visiting the less expensive
countries first might feel good initially, but going to the more expensive countries afterward can be a buzzkill since the same activities will cost more.
Did anything really change during the trip?
No, because you were planning to go to those countries and spend the same amount of
money.
However, managing how we’re programmed can still impact how we perceive a trip.
Try this trick and let me know how it works.
Keep traveling,
Andrew

What tricks do you use to make your trips more enjoyable?
Cocktail of the Week
The Rusty Nail cocktail is believed to have been created in Scotland, where it was popularized as a way to enjoy Scotch whisky. Its simple yet bold flavor combination of Scotch whisky and Drambuie, a honey and herb-infused liqueur, has made it a classic cocktail enjoyed by many around the world.
Recipe:
2 oz Scotch whisky
1 oz Drambuie
Directions:
Fill a rocks glass with ice.
Pour Scotch whisky and Drambuie over the ice.
Stir
gently to combine.
Optional: Garnish with a lemon twist or a maraschino cherry.

Cheap flights:
Going.com: This might be the only discounted flights website you need. It’s a paid service that sends you notifications when deals become available, but they expire in a couple of days so Act Fast!!
Secret Flying 🤫: This website emails you about free flight opportunities and even better… it doesn’t cost a thing!!
Skyscanner: An older, but still reliable website that’s also *FREE* so there’s no reason not to use it. Use the "Explore the World" feature and set your departure date to "Whole Month" to find the cheapest deals.
Insurance:
Safety Wing: I use Safety Wing as my travel insurance because the plans are flexible. You can easily insure a 1-week trip for like $11 dollars which is less than the cost of a cocktail at the bar.
