The Art of Travel Napping: Maximizing Your Energy Abroad
I’m currently in Turks and Caicos, and this is my view.
Not bad for a Monday.
I love it here. I've got so much content that I can’t wait
to post!
When exploring a new country, it's tempting to pack every moment with activities. But maintaining your energy while traveling requires strategic rest — something I've learned through trial and error.
Why Smart Travelers Take Naps
I'll admit it: I'm a
professional napper. If napping were an Olympic sport, I'd give Simone Biles a run for her medals. But these tactical rest periods are what allow me to fully experience each destination.
My Top Tips for Travel Rest
Use the "dead zone" between 5-8 PM when attractions close but it's too early for dinner
Take advantage of the midday heat when lighting is poor for
photos anyway
Go to bed early - it's how I got those peaceful sunrise beach photos!
Rest during transit times (just set alarms to avoid missing your stop)
Squeeze in quick power naps during activity gaps
Remember: You can't do everything in one trip. Trying to wake up early,
sightsee all day, and stay out late will eventually catch up with you. I learned this lesson the hard way when I fell asleep in a museum chair in Cologne after traveling all night from the Netherlands.
Try these strategies on your next adventure and let me know how they work for you.
Keep traveling,
Andrew
When do you usually hit an energy slump while traveling, and how do you deal with it?
Cocktail of the Week
The Blue Lagoon cocktail was first created in France in the 1960s by bartender Andy MacElhone at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris. Its striking blue color and tropical citrus flavor were designed to evoke the feel of a sun-soaked beach getaway.
Ingredients:
• 1 oz (30 ml) vodka
• 1 oz (30 ml) blue curaçao
• 4 oz (120 ml) lemonade
• Ice
cubes
• Optional: lemon slice or cherry for garnish
Instructions:
• Fill a shaker with ice cubes.
• Add vodka and blue curaçao.
• Pour in the lemonade and shake gently.
• Strain into a highball or hurricane glass filled with ice.
• Garnish with a lemon slice or cherry if
desired.

I use Safety Wing as my travel insurance because the plans are flexible. You can easily insure a 1-week trip for like $11 dollars which is less than the cost of a cocktail at the bar.

Apple AirTags: Consider getting Apple AirTags for the peace of mind of always knowing where your luggage is. Link

clothes wrinkle-free. It also makes packing/unpacking much easier.Link

Backup batteries: I like these backup batteries because they have three important components for me: 1. They have enough power to recharge my phone multiple times at once, 2. Are small enough to put in my pocket, and 3. Are sturdy enough to survive a fall. Link
Yoga Mat: I use this thin mat to get my stretching in even when I'm traveling. Link
Jump Rope: It's so easy to bring a jump rope with you for exercise because it
weighs almost nothing and takes up no space. Link
