10 Overlooked Spots Travelers Should Bookmark
This week, I'm thrilled to be in Philadelphia! I attended the Philly Salsa Congress, which is the city's salsa dance convention. We haven't had one in a couple of years, so it's exciting to see it return.
The Philly Salsa Congress actually inspired the creation of The
Busy Traveler concept.
Storytime:
While attending dance events in different cities, I noticed many of my fellow dancers never left their hotels. Meanwhile, I was exploring local neighborhoods, discovering hidden gems, and experiencing what each city truly had to offer. So, I began
sharing my discoveries and bringing friends along, turning ordinary dance trips into rich cultural experiences.
It's a perfect way to bring your hobby along while traveling and connect with new people.
I'm so glad it's back!
When planning your travels, there are several important places that often get overlooked. Knowing where to find these services can save you time, money, and stress during your trip!
1. Grocery Stores
Eating out for every meal gets expensive fast. Find a larger grocery store where you can buy water, snacks, and essentials at reasonable prices. This also gives you a
glimpse into how locals live!
2. Hospitals
Nobody plans to get sick or injured, but knowing where the nearest hospital is located can be a lifesaver in emergencies. This is especially important if you don't speak the local language well.
3. Pharmacies
Travel exposes you to new
environments, foods, and bacteria your body isn't used to. Having a pharmacy location saved can help you quickly get medication for common travel ailments like upset stomach, allergies, or colds so you can get back to enjoying your trip.
4. Fitness Centers
Trying all the delicious local foods is one of travel's greatest joys! Keep your energy up and make room for more treats by planning
where you can squeeze in a workout. Your vacation photos will thank you too!
5. Luggage Storage
Options
There's often an awkward time between check-out and your flight, or between arrival and check-in. Research luggage storage options near your accommodation or at transportation hubs. Many hotels and Airbnbs will store your bags for free, but if not, look for affordable alternatives nearby.
6. Embassy or Consulate
In
today's unpredictable world, it's smart to know where your country's embassy or consulate is located. Save this information in case of emergency situations, lost passports, or if you need assistance returning home.
7. Neighborhoods to Explore
Don't just bookmark specific attractions—save entire neighborhoods! Cities have unique areas with different vibes and cultures. This approach works
perfectly for travelers who prefer flexible plans—you can simply wander and discover what each neighborhood has to offer.
8. Local Cafés
When you need to recharge during a busy day of sightseeing, nothing beats a relaxing stop at a café. Save several options throughout the areas you'll be visiting for quick breaks, people-watching, and experiencing local coffee culture.
9. Bakeries
Some of the most delicious treats won't be found in restaurants! Research local bakeries for authentic pastries and desserts that showcase the region's specialties. Your sweet tooth deserves its own itinerary!
10. Transportation Hubs
Always
save the locations of major transportation centers like train stations, bus terminals, and subway stops near your accommodation. This makes navigating a new city much easier and helps you plan your daily routes efficiently.
Keep traveling,
Andrew

Cocktail of the Week
The Hanky Panky cocktail was created in the early 20th century by Ada Coleman, head bartender of the American Bar at The Savoy Hotel in London, England. This classic cocktail, originally crafted for Sir Charles Hawtrey, combines gin and vermouth with a hint of
Fernet-Branca for a complex and flavorful libation.
Recipe:
1 1/2 oz gin
1 1/2 oz sweet vermouth
2 dashes Fernet-Branca
Orange peel, for garnish
Ice
Preparation:
Fill a mixing glass with ice.
Add gin, sweet vermouth, and Fernet-- Branca to the mixing glass.
Stir the ingredients well to combine and chill the mixture.
Strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe
glass.
Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink and use it as a garnish.
