Save money, stretch your legs — here’s the secret to flying cheap and comfortable.
My 2-Minute Trick to Find the Best Seats
I've been sick all week. It's ironic that I'm fine while traveling the world, but as soon as I settle at home, I get sick.
However, I couldn't let a good sickness go to waste.
Since I've been bedridden, I've been doing a lot of travel planning.
This reminds me of what happened during 2020. Before lockdown, I had the whole year planned, but when everything shut down, I had all these travel notes with nowhere to go. That's when I decided to start a blog and share my notes with you.
So I guess the lesson here is: when I'm stuck in one place, I start creating!
As you know, I like to fly on the cheap.
How cheap?
I'm the guy who would choose to fly
in the cargo hold if it were available. Until that option becomes available, I'll have to pay for a basic economy seat. 😢
But there's one thing that really bothers me about economy class, especially for international flights.
Being 6'2", those seats are tiny, and that discomfort adds up when you're on
longer flights.
So here's a travel hack I just used for an upcoming international flight:
Book Basic Economy (save that money!)
Make sure you get seat selection (There are some tricks to get it for free, but pay for it if necessary)
Find a seat by the emergency
exit
How do you find these magical seats?
Look up the specific model of your plane (it's usually in your booking information), then check SeatGuru to locate the emergency exits.
Why choose these seats?
Simple—they offer more legroom because people
need space to exit during emergencies.
You're basically getting a more spacious experience at a low price!
Try this trick on your next flight and let me know how it works.
Keep traveling,
Andrew
Have you ever tried sitting in an emergency exit row? Worth it or overrated?
Cocktail of the Week
The French Connection cocktail was invented in the 1970s in the United States, despite its Parisian name. It gained fame after being featured in The French Connection film starring Gene Hackman, which inspired its smooth yet bold character — a perfect mix of
sophistication and strength.
Ingredients:
1 ½ oz Cognac
1 ½ oz Amaretto liqueur
Ice cubes
Instructions:
Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice
cubes.
Pour in the Cognac.
Add the Amaretto.
Stir gently to combine — no shaker needed.
Serve neat or over ice
